Barnsley Football Club can confirm that Jordan Helliwell, Steven Simpson, Charlie Winfield and Matty Wolfe are to join Esbjerg fB on loan, until 31 December 2021.
The young quartet will link up with the NordicBet League outfit, as EfB set their sights on a return to the Danish top flight.
Under 23s, Matty Wolfe, who made his first team debut during the 19/20 season against Nottingham Forest and Jordan Helliwell, Barnsley FC’s 17/18 Academy Player of the Year, move to benefit and grow from regular exposure to the men’s game.
Charlie Winfield is another U23’s player who will benefit from exposure to senior football. Highly thought of at Oakwell, the versatile left-back has been on the books since 2012.
Following a slightly different route into the Barnsley FC Academy, Steven Simpson impressed as a part of Reds in the Community’s Shadow Scholar programme, officially joining the Club in October 2020. Steven heads to Denmark hoping to kick on his fledgling career.
