You voted for Dominik Frieser’s strike against Sheffield Wednesday as your Goal of the Month for December, in association with AX Soccer Tours.
The Austrian forward rounded off a wonderful team move that started at the back with Jack Walton and Mads Andersen before involving Callum Brittain, Matty James and Conor Chaplin, the latter of whom dinked a lovely first time through ball over the top for Frieser to slot through the legs of Joe Wildsmith.
It proved to be the winning goal in a tense South Yorkshire derby, putting us 16 points clear of our near neighbours in the Sky Bet Championship.
‘Friesy’ was run close in the Twitter poll by Alex Mowatt, but just edged the vote by 2%.
“I am very proud to have won the award,” he exclaimed. “This goal belongs to most of the team because it was a great combination and started with Jack from behind.
“And it’s even better because it was against Sheffield Wednesday! To win this game was really important for the supporters, so I want to thank everyone who voted for me.”
Congratulations on your award, Dominik!
