After another assured performance between the sticks in our Emirates FA Cup fourth round victory over Norwich City, Brad Collins believes the winning margin should have been even greater.

Rarely troubled by the Canaries, our stopper oozed confidence with his handling and distribution throughout the tie and heaped praise on his defence, who thwarted the visitors during a sensational performance at Oakwell.

“The back five were terrific and defended with their hearts on the line,” lauded Collins. “They were terrific to a man and I can’t thank them enough.

“I thought we were really, really good. We dominated the game for large periods – obviously they had the possession most of the time, but we definitely looked more dangerous on the counter-attack and, when we did get in, we had a lot of chances. Only the one today but, hopefully, on another day we’ll have a few more.”

It was the sort of result that the Reds had been promising over the past few weeks, running Norwich close at Carrow Road while also just coming unstuck against Swansea City and Watford despite impressive displays.

Barnsley have proven over the course of the campaign that they can compete with the division’s better teams and Collins is confident that his side can use this result as a springboard for success and build momentum.

“I think, over the last month, we’ve been putting performances together but not getting the results we wanted,”continued the 23-year-old. “But, today, we got what we deserved over the last month and this performance was terrific.

“We need to start pushing on now; we definitely need to start putting results together and climbing up the table.”
