Heading into our clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon, Callum Brittain says Barnsley are focusing on one game at a time to ensure their safety and will take everything as it comes.

The Reds currently have 35 points and are 12th in the Sky Bet Championship, compared to being rock bottom this time last year. It has been marked improvement, and our full-back believes there is plenty of confidence within the squad.

“The quicker we get to 50 points, the easier it is for us,” asserted Brittain. “The Championship can change very quickly, like we’ve experienced; we’ve only got one win in the last four games and that can change the standings in the league very quickly.

“But we’re confident – our Christmas period gives us a lot of confidence – and we go into Saturday with our heads held high.”

A small blip in form has seen the Reds pick up just one point from their last four outings but, looking at it subjectively, it has been a tough run of fixtures against some of the best teams in the division.

Despite the results, Barnsley have more than matched their opposition each time and performances are encouraging as we head into the final few months of a breathless campaign.

“I think, in every single game that we’ve played in the last four matches, we’ve competed and been in the game the whole time,” continued Brittain. “We go into Saturday with confidence; they’re a good side and have real quality and we’re looking forward to the game.”
