TOBY SIBBICK POST-MILLWALL

28 February 2021

Speaking after our 2-1 victory over Millwall on Saturday afternoon, Toby Sibbick insists that it is important for the Reds to remain focused and stressed that the job isn’t done yet.

Barnsley currently sit seventh in the Sky Bet Championship on 51 points with 14 games remaining, but have no time to rest on their laurels with a midweek trip to Queens Park Rangers on the horizon.

“Everyone is buzzing, really,” began Sibbick. “It’s five wins in a row but we know we’ve got another job to do on Wednesday and we’ll enjoy the win for a couple of days but, once we go to London, we’ve got a job to do so let’s try and make it six.

“We just focus on one game at a time; we don’t get ahead of schedule. But we’ve put ourselves in a great position and we’re looking forward. Hopefully we can keep winning and push for something special this year.”

Cauley Woodrow’s early opener was cancelled out by Mason Bennett, but Michał Helik struck a second half winner for the Reds who continue to defy the odds this season.

It was the Polish defender’s fifth goal of the campaign and Sibbick says he is eager to get off the mark in the coming weeks and help Barnsley continue their fine run of form.

“I’m waiting for that first goal!” he exclaimed. “Everyone is happy for him [Michał] – delighted for him. He’s been solid all season and keeps getting the goals so, for us, it’s great and gets us the win so we’re all buzzing.

“Getting a goal early is always nice but, unfortunately, they scored. We knew, if we kept in the game and kept it level that we could get a winner, and that’s what we seem to do.”
