Barnsley Football Club can confirm that Patrick Schmidt has joined SV Ried on loan.
The striker, who arrived at Oakwell in August 2019, returns to his native Austria for a temporary spell until the end of the season.
Schmidt scored three goals for the Reds last term – including dramatic winners against Millwall and Nottingham Forest – but has been used sparingly this campaign under Valérien Ismaël, featuring just five times under the Frenchman.
He will link up with former Barnsley teammate Sami Radlinger at the Josko Arena, with SV Ried currently 10th in the Austrian Bundesliga.
