JORDAN WILLIAMS PRE-BLACKBURN

16 February 2021

As we prepare to face Rovers at Oakwell on Wednesday night, we got the thoughts of Jordan Williams.

One of the standout players for the Reds in the opening stages of the 20/21 campaign, Jordan Williams was struck down by injury in October of last year and after previous attempts to return to fitness were short-lived, the defender is now back up and running, adding even further depth to Valérien Ismaël’s squad.

“It’s been a tough period for myself on a personal level.” Jordan told us ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with Blackburn Rovers here at Oakwell.

“I’m delighted to be back in and around the team though now, getting some minutes under me. It feels good to be coming back into a team that’s doing well. There’s good vibes around the camp.

“I’d like to think I’ve got past the injury problems, but you never can say in this game.

“But I feel good, and I just want to play more games now, see if I can help the team.”

As the full-back suggests, he’s coming back into a Reds squad who are in a far more positive setting than the one he dropped out of last year.

It’s about getting game-time for him individually, but on a team-level, the target remains the same - to take it one game at a time and see where it takes this exciting young group of players.

“We might not have got the results we were after in recent weeks, until recently, but the last month or so we have been playing very well.

“Hopefully now we’ve fixed that and we can put a good run together and get to that 50-point marker that we set at the start of the season.

“The sooner we hit that target, we can relax and see what else we can achieve. That’s the goal.”
