DARYL DIKE POST-STOKE CITY

25 February 2021

Having opened his account for the Reds in our 2-0 victory over Stoke City on Wednesday evening, Daryl Dike says he is eager for his new side to continue this upward trajectory.

The American, who joined on loan from MLS outfit Orlando City at the beginning of February, was on hand to seal all three points when he latched onto Conor Chaplin’s delightful through ball before slotting past Angus Gunn.

“It’s great to get another three points and keep bouncing,” asserted Dike, speaking exclusively to iFollow Barnsley. “Of course, I’m super-excited to get my first goal so, I just want to keep going.

“Everyone wants to keep winning and keep pushing with the momentum; we go into every game knowing we can get three points and we’ve got some good points off some good teams, so we just want to keep going.”

It’s four consecutive wins now for Barnsley, who are enjoying a fine run of form after putting Brentford, Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City to the sword prior to overcoming the Potters at Oakwell.

Confidence is high in the dressing room and, having climbed to eighth in the Sky Bet Championship, Dike feels there’s no reason why the Reds can’t achieve more this term.

“We recognise the quality that we have so we take advantage of the chances we have,” continued the forward. “In some games, we might have less but we take advantage of the quality and we have the players that can do it.

“I think the team can go as far as we can take this. We’ve proved that we can compete with any team and proved that, with recent results, we can continue moving up the table. We’re in eighth right now, but that’s not where we want to be; we want to keep moving up.”
