REDS TEAM WITH #HERGAMETOO

9 December 2021

Barnsley FC is delighted to announce a new partnership with HerGameToo, a campaign that aims to raise awareness of sexist abuse within football.

HerGameToo strive to be a catalyst for positive change and by partnering, we aim to help remove sexist abuse from the game whilst highlight the steps being taken to make football more inclusive.

Discrimination of any kind is a rarity at Oakwell, but by supporting this campaign, we continue our strong stance against hate and abuse in the hope that fans of all ages see Oakwell and the Barnsley FC digital community as a safe and inclusive environment.

The campaign was launched in May 2021 to widespread support on social media – leading to the campaign’s hashtag #HerGameToo trending on Twitter in the build-up to the Emirates FA Cup Final.

HerGameToo co-founder, Eve Ralph said: "Everyone at #HerGameToo is pleased to officially partner with another Sky Bet Championship club in Barnsley FC.

“We are looking forward to working together, continuing to ensure the game is enjoyable, safe, and inclusive for all fans with the support of this fantastic, progressive club."

Reds’ Head of Marketing and Communications, Andrew Clark, added: “The Club pride themselves on providing an inclusive, family friendly enviroment and we’re delighted to work with HerGameToo to help make a continued difference.

“Alongside our official ladies teams, the Barnsley FC family have a large following of female supporters, so to back this movement and assist in inspiring the next generation of female football fans and female footballers is only positive. We have terrific backing and we hope that supporters of all ages see Oakwell as a safe place to follow the Reds.”
