Ahead of Sunday's clash with the Sky Blues, left wing-back Callum Styles spoke with the media at Oakwell.
One of the standout players in the last 12 months, where he’s not only gained a lot of plaudits, but a nickname to boot, the ‘Bury Baggio’ says he’s not interested in what outsiders are saying about his side, as the Reds look to finish an outstanding season in the next few weeks.
Callum told us: “We know there’s 90 minutes to a game, we know the quality we have in our squad so we never worry about not getting a result.
“I don’t think we take any notice of what other people say about us.
“We know what works for us and we’ve not changed anything. Others are changing how they play to combat us. And that says everything.”
A very confident player, he says that spirits in the changing room are high as the Reds prepare for Sunday’s trip to face a Coventry City side battling for their lives at the other end of the Sky Bet Championship table.
“We go out there to win every game.” Callum admitted.
“And we’ll be going there on Sunday to get another three points. The mood in camp is really good, which is bound to be the case because we are consistently performing well and winning games.
“We just have to stay focused and continue to thrive.”
Over this year-long period, Styles has been moved from central midfield into a wider position, operating as one of Valérien Ismaël’s attacking wing-backs.
It’s something he says he’s enjoyed and should stand him in good stead in the future.
“I’ve played in central midfield most of my career, from a young age. But most of my games here have been at left wing-back and I actually enjoy the position.
“I’ll play wherever I am asked to help the team.
“It’s only a positive thing anyway, to be able to perform in multiple positions.
“It took me a while to cement my place in the side here and I’m just pushing myself hard all of the time to improve and make sure I’m earning my position every week.”
