You voted for Alex Mowatt’s goal against Middlesbrough as your April Goal of the Month, in association with AX Soccer Tours.

Our skipper netted directly from a corner to give us the lead against a stubborn Boro side at Oakwell to put us on course for three more crucial points to help us secure a play-off place.

It is the second time Mowatt has claimed the prize this season, having won the October version for his strike against Watford while also receiving the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month with his thunderbolt at Millwall.

The 26-year-old has also been commended for his overall performances this term by being named in the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season.

Upon hearing the news about his latest in-house award, he said: “I’m delighted to be recognised by the supporters again. As a team, we scored some really good goals this month and some important goals at crucial times.

“Mine came at a time when it looked as though we weren’t going to make a breakthrough, so I’m pleased that I’ve been able to help the team because, ultimately, that’s more important than individual recognition.

“I said in my post-match interview that it was a routine we had been working on in training, and we had one similar ruled out against Reading a week earlier so it was nice to see this one count.

“Thank you again to everyone who voted – it really means a lot.”

Everyone at Oakwell would like to congratulate Alex on his award.
