The gaffer looks ahead to Saturday's clash with Preston North End.

The Reds travel to Deepdale in tomorrow's penultimate match of the regular campaign, looking to make it a dozen victories away from home in this season's Sky Bet Championship.

The boss says it's about maintaining form and putting in an improved performance tomorrow.

"We want to start strong and finish strong." Valérien stated.

"I have not been happy with recent performances. The Huddersfield game was what we expect from Barnsley, but against Middlesbrough, Coventry and last week against Rotherham the performance was not good enough.

"I want to see good performances in these two games so that we are prepared well for the play-offs."

Tomorrow sees us travel across the Pennines to take on a mid-table North End outfit currently without a permanent manager.

But they're in decent form themselves, and have kept three consecutive clean sheets.

"It will be another tough challenge for us against a club who are usually challenging for the play-offs themselves.

"They have good players and we know all about them.

"But again, it is about our own performance and if we can get that from the first whistle, I am confident we can continue to get the right results."
