DOMINIK FRIESER POST-READING

3 April 2021

Speaking after our 1-1 draw with Reading, Dominik Frieser insists it will be a crucial point as the Sky Bet Championship gradually reaches boiling point.

The Reds remain fifth in the table, narrowly ahead of the Berkshire outfit, after coming from behind to claim a richly deserved share of the spoils.

“It’s a shame that we didn’t win,” admitted Frieser. “At the end, I think we deserved more than a point, but we take it, go to Monday and look for the win.

“In the second half, we showed a good reaction and played very well. Normally, we have to win this game but, at the end, it’s a point, we take it and it’s good.”

Up next for Barnsley is a trip to Luton Town on Easter Monday to face a Hatters side looking for a response following their 2-0 defeat at struggling Derby County.

Frieser believes this was a positive result for the Reds and that he and his teammates need to seize the initiative at Kenilworth Road to ensure we remain ahead of the chasing pack.

“I think the point is better for us than for them,” asserted the Austrian. “Looking from game to game, Reading is now over and next is Luton – if we win, there’s a lot of pressure for the other teams and it’s good for us.”
