DARYL DIKE POST-LUTON

6 April 2021

Following his two-goal match-winning display against Luton Town on Easter Monday, Daryl Dike says the Reds are working as hard as possible to finish the campaign strongly.

Our on-loan American forward struck in either half at Kenilworth Road and he believes it was important to secure victory after two games without success.

“It’s good to get back to winning ways and get the momentum going towards the end of the season,” insisted Dike.

“We’ve proven that we can compete against any opponent that we’ve faced. It’s in our hands and we train every single day as hard as we can – we train and we know what our goals are – it’s all in our hands and, coming into every match, we try to be the imposing factor on every single team that we play against.”

His first was a typically thunderous effort after being played in by Cauley Woodrow before he gobbled up the rebound from his strike partner’s attempt in the second half.

The 20-year-old lauded his teammates for their efforts against Luton as he took his tally to seven since joining Barnsley at the start of February.

“The first goal was good build-up by both Vic and then Cauley playing a good ball and the finish was there,” continued Dike. “The second goal, you see Cauley turning into a little Messi, but he did his thing and I was there to get the rebound.

“It was a great feeling to, of course, get a goal and help the team however I could.”
