VOTE FOR YOUR APRIL GOAL OF THE MONTH

28 April 2021

You can vote for your April Goal of the Month, in association with AX Soccer Tours.

It has been a productive month for the Reds at all age groups, with the first team securing a place in the play-offs and our U23s climbing to second in the Professional Development League heading into the final day.

There were some excellent strikes to choose from and we’ve narrowed it down to four contenders.

GOAL A – DARYL DIKE v LUTON TOWN
One of four goals that Daryl Dike bagged in April and his first against the Hatters was a joy to behold. After being played in by Cauley Woodrow, our on-loan American forward held off the attentions of the defender before thundering a low drive past Simon Sluga to put us on our way to three valuable points.

GOAL B – ALEX MOWATT v MIDDLESBROUGH
Just when it seemed as though we wouldn’t make the breakthrough, you sensed it would take a moment of magic or a slice of good luck – and perhaps this was a combination of both. It’s rare that you see goals directly from a corner, but our skipper was on hand to deliver when it mattered to give us a deserved lead.

GOAL C – AIDEN MARSH v MILLWALL U23
A magnificent team move from our youngsters who are flying at the top end of the Professional Development League. Will Lancaster’s raking cross-field ball was controlled expertly by Cameron Thompson who beat his man with a Cruyff turn before finding Brad Binns. The midfielder played an inch perfect through ball for Jordan Helliwell who squared for Aiden Marsh to slide home the game’s only goal.

GOAL D – DARYL DIKE v HUDDERSFIELD TOWN
He has scored all manner of goals since arriving from Orlando City and this bicycle kick is up there with the best of them. Carlton Morris did brilliantly to dig out a cross and it eventually fell to the 20-year-old who acrobatically fired home his ninth goal for the Reds to claim a priceless victory in the Yorkshire derby.
