CAULEY WOODROW DELIGHTED TO BE OFF THE MARK

6 September 2020

Having scored the goal that booked our place in the second round of the Carabao Cup, match-winner Cauley Woodrow says he is eager to add more to his tally.

The Reds’ forward was instrumental throughout against Nottingham Forest, linking the play excellently and thoroughly deserved his goal – which is perhaps one of the more unorthodox finishes of his career.

“I’ll take them; however they go in – it doesn’t really matter,” he told iFollow Barnsley after the game. “It’s just instinct following the ball up and I managed to get my belly on it and it went in, so I’m delighted.

“It was the first game of the season – I know it’s the Carabao Cup, but it’s still the first game and I’m absolutely delighted to get off the mark.”

Barnsley have picked up where they left off last season: playing an entertaining brand of football while remaining solid at the back.

There’s plenty of confidence amongst the players and a genuine belief that they can kick on and surprise more than a few people this campaign.

“The momentum is really important; I just said in the previous interview that we wanted to treat that like another league game,” continued Woodrow. “Forest are in our league and they’re a top side, so that’s what we’ve done. Hopefully we can push on next week against Luton.”
