Our versatile defender takes the monthly honours in our first vote of the 20/21 season!

In association with our Charity Partner at Barnsley Hospice, we can announce that Reds defender Jordan Williams has been selected as the winner in September's vote for Player of the Month!

Starting all six fixtures in league and cup throughout the month, Jordan put in a number of impressive performances and even grabbed himself a goal when scoring at Middlesbrough in a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory.

Having played at centre back, right back and left back thru September, the versatility shown by Williams no doubt helped his cause when fans were making their choice for last month's most outstanding performer.

Receiving 35% of the overall votes, the 20-year-old made his 50th appearance for the Reds in September and he fought off competition from Callum Styles (23%) and Mads Andersen (27%) to become our first Player of the Month in this 2020/21 campaign.

Williams wanted to thank those who voted for him but admitted there's much for he and the squad to improve upon in the coming weeks.

"I'm really happy to be recognised like this. For fans to think I did well, that's huge for any player and gives you confidence. So thank you for that.

"I wish the month had gone better for us in terms of results though, and hopefully we can improve together after the international break."
