MATTY JAMES PRE-MILLWALL

23 October 2020

Midfielder Matty James spoke to the press ahead of Saturday's trip to Millwall in Sky Bet Championship action.

Joining the Reds for a second loan-spell just last week, the former Manchester United man spoke of his delight at being back at Oakwell and back involved at first team level.

James told us: "It's been great to return and see familiar faces, although a lot has obviously changed since I was last here. But it's the same club, it feels the same and this time, it's a little different because I'm now one of the older heads.

"I think there's me and Sole (Michael Sollbauer) but after that, it's a very young group.

"This is one of the reasons I'm here - to help, on and off the pitch with my experience and knowledge.

"But from a personal perspective, it's about getting minutes and proving a few people wrong."

Plagued by injury for so much of the last few years, Matty says he's fit and raring to go for the Reds, and wants to help the club move up the Championship table.

"It's go time." The Leicester City-loanee explained.

"I've been ready to play for over a year now. I'm training every day, and it's intense as you might imagine, just as it was at Leicester. But I feel good.

"There's a good feeling here, there's plenty of talent.

"If we can get that first win - hopefully at Millwall - I believe that might prove the launchpad for a decent season."
