Barnsley Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Herbie Kane.
The midfielder arrives at Oakwell on a four-year deal from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.
Kane, who had loan spells at Doncaster Rovers and Hull City, made his debut for Jurgen Klopp’s side against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup last season and was also nominated for the Golden Boy award in 2018, alongside former teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn.
The 21-year-old has a keen eye for goal, which he has previously demonstrated against the Reds as he scored the opening goal in a 1-1 draw with Doncaster in November 2018.
Chief Executive Officer, Dane Murphy, was pleased to capture another high-quality player who will add more strength and depth to our midfield.
“Herbie is a fantastic player and we are delighted to have him here at Oakwell. He has had an excellent education with Liverpool, working under one of the finest managers in world football, and has shown that he has the quality to compete at this level.
“Naturally, there were a number of clubs interested in signing Herbie, but we are thrilled that he chose to come to Barnsley. It’s an indication of our devotion to give young, talented individuals an opportunity to showcase their ability and the Club believe he will be a great success.”
Kane echoed those sentiments, insisting he is eager to pull the red shirt on after signing on the dotted line.
“I’m feeling good, excited and I’m looking forward to getting going. I want to score goals and hopefully I can do that here, look back and reflect on it at the end of the season.
“It’s a part of my game, trying to score goals from midfield as well as getting assists and helping the team – as much as I can do that, the better.”
Everyone at Barnsley FC would like to welcome Herbie to Oakwell.
