Jordan Helliwell has joined Stalybridge Celtic on a one-month loan deal until 5 November.
The versatile defender, who made his first team debut in November 2018 against Bradford City in the Checkatrade Trophy, will link up with former Wales international striker Simon Haworth at Bower Fold.
Part of Martin Devaney’s U23 side, the 19-year-old has featured three times in the Professional Development League this campaign.
Celtic are currently 21st in the Northern Premier League, but can leapfrog this evening’s opponents Mickleover Sports with a win, and Helliwell is hopeful of being involved.
“I’m really looking forward to the experience and challenge of playing competitive football at a good level,” insisted Jordan. “It’s important for my development that I have exposure first team football and I feel that Stalybridge offers me the perfect platform to go and play.
“I hope I can impress while on loan and see if I can push on more when I return to Barnsley.”
Everyone at Barnsley FC would like to wish Jordan the best of luck in his loan move.
