CAULEY WOODROW PRE-NOTTINGHAM FOREST

19 November 2020

Ahead of our Sky Bet Championship fixture against Nottingham Forest, Cauley Woodrow says Barnsley are confident of picking up another victory against this weekend’s visitors.

Our striker was on target in the last meeting back in September, bundling home from close range as the Reds progressed to the second round of the Carabao Cup.

“They’re a big team, a massive club and they’ve got some great players and everyone’s probably a little bit shocked at where they are in the league table, so we’ve got to be wary of them,” said Woodrow.

“But we’re in good form and playing well, and we’re going to look to them to come here and try to beat them. We’ve beaten them previously this season in the cup and last season in the league, so we know we can beat them and we’ll be ready for them.”

It’s two weeks since Barnsley were last in action, with the international break disrupting the domestic schedule just as the Reds were hitting a bit of form.

However, Woodrow insists that he and his teammates have been invigorated by the rest and believes it has been a good opportunity for Head Coach, Valérien Ismaël, to continue implementing his style in training.

“With the new manager coming in, it gave him the chance over the international break to get some work into us and get his point across,” continued the 25-year-old.

“He came in at a busy schedule and didn’t have time to show us on the training ground exactly what he wanted, so now we’ve had that and it’s been a good break. We were in good form but, hopefully, we can pick up where we left off.

“Like any manager, they come in with their own twist on things. His philosophy is quite similar to what the club wants to do in terms of high energy and high pressing football, but he’s also brought his own style and made a few changes, and those changes have clearly worked and we’re getting some good results from it.”
