Starting all six fixtures throughout the month, the captain put in a number of impressive performances, working tirelessly in midfield as ever, whilst scoring two thumping goals against Millwall and Watford and creating also for his teammates.
Proving himself to be one of the division's outstanding central midfielders, when Alex plays well, Barnsley do. And that consistency will be key for the rest of this season.
Receiving 36% of the overall votes, the 25-year-old fought off stiff competition from Callum Brittain (27%) to become your Player of the Month for October.
Mowatt wanted to thank supporters for selecting him, but told barnsleyfc.co.uk that it wasn't about individuals, and suggested the clear togetherness at the club should help keep driving the Reds up the table.
"October saw us begin a good run of form," he explained. "The new gaffer came in too and we're really kicking on now.
"To get this award from the fans means a lot, but it's about the team for me.
"We are all looking forward to getting back, keen to keep working hard together and push on up into the top half of this league."
