GEORGE MILLER POST-WATFORD

1 November 2020

Having made his first appearance of the campaign, George Miller says he is hopeful of more game time in the coming weeks as fixtures start to come thick and fast.

The versatile forward was introduced from the bench just before the hour mark against Watford on Saturday afternoon and certainly caught the eye with his tireless running, and almost bagged himself a goal moments after entering the field.

“I’ve not had many opportunities but, when I came on, I really enjoyed it,” Miller told iFollow Barnsley. “It’s nice to be playing on a Saturday again; it’s been about eight months since I last played.

“I thought I won flick ons and held the ball up well – I should have scored; I dragged one wide, but, fingers crossed, I’ll go again because you can’t dwell on those, as a striker. I just enjoyed playing and being out there with the lads.”

It was another solid performance from the Reds, who are now five games unbeaten in the league and have already doubled their points tally compared to this stage last season.

The Hornets rarely threatened, with Tom Cleverley and Ben Wilmot squandering their best chances of the encounter, but it was a richly deserved win for Barnsley who continue to upset the apple cart against the big boys.

“It was really good,” continued Miller. “It’s one of those games where you’re playing against an ex-Premier League side and, like the gaffer said, anyone can beat anyone in this league and to take three points off them is just a great result, isn’t it?”
