Heading into our Sky Bet Championship clash with Brentford, Callum Brittain says he couldn’t have wished for a better start to his Barnsley career.

A number of magnificent performances have seen the flying wing-back pick up several Man of the Match awards as he rapidly establishes himself as a fans favourite in the opening weeks of the campaign.

“I’ve really enjoyed my start and couldn’t have asked for better results in the games I’ve played in, so I’m really enjoying it,” asserted Brittain.

“I think the boys have been a massive part of me playing well and the team doing well; every man who has been on that pitch has put every single bit of effort in to playing well and helping each other, and they’ve really helped me slot into the team and the environment here.”

The Reds have hit a nice spell of form since Valérien Ismaël took charge at the back end of October, with four wins from five games seeing us climb into a healthy mid-table position.

Confidence is high in the dressing room and there is a feeling of optimism that this side can enjoy a productive campaign.

“There’s a lot of quality in this group and you can see that from our performances,” continued the 22-year-old. “At the moment, the mood is very high and we’re excited to play each game, but there’s a lot of games coming up and we’ve all got to be focused.”

“We’ve picked up some good results here and, when you play at home in the Championship, you need to get your results and make this a tough place to come. We’ve started to do that and we’ve got to continue to do that.”
