After helping Barnsley to a fourth clean sheet in five games, Mads Andersen reserved special praise for Jack Walton following our victory over Nottingham Forest.

Speaking exclusively with iFollow Barnsley, the Danish defender lauded our goalkeeper, who made a number of crucial saves to keep the visitors at bay during a pulsating encounter at Oakwell on Saturday afternoon.

“It was a tough game,” recalled Andersen. “We have to give a lot of credit to Jack but I think, even though we made mistakes, everyone kept going and we did well. Because we kept the clean sheet, it gives us even more confidence and he did really well.”

Barnsley’s defensive solidity has been even more prevalent since Valérien Ismaël took charge at the end of October and has helped the Reds climb to 13th in the Sky Bet Championship table.

A defender in his playing days, our Head Coach has implemented his style on the training ground and we are reaping the rewards with a number of fine performances when it matters.

“The structure, the way we play and forcing them wide – you can also feel that he knows the game really well because he played,” continued Andersen. “We have a lot of energy as well. It’s working really well; we’re covering each other and have good communication.”
