U23s | PREVIEW: Barnsley Vs Leeds United

8 March 2020

Barnsley U23s are back in action on Monday afternoon when they welcome Leeds United to the Oakwell Training Ground.

The original fixture between the two Yorkshire rivals on 28 February was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

Martin Devaney’s side are currently eighth in the Professional Development League, while United are pushing hard for a place in the end of season play-offs at the very least.

Carlos Corberan’s youngsters sit third in the table, firmly poised for a tilt at the North division title – six points behind leaders Nottingham Forest, with a game in hand.

This game could mark a competitive return for Jasper Moon, who has been out since September with a broken leg sustained against Wigan Athletic.

Prior to the postponed game, the young central defender spoke of his delight at returning to fitness and he is raring to go against Leeds.

“I’m very excited,” said the 19-year-old. “Obviously, it’s been five months since I played my last game, so I’m looking forward to it against a tough opponent in Leeds. They might have a few first team players, so it’ll be a great challenge to test myself.

“The lads in training are in good spirits, so I think if we just keep talking and bonding then we’ll be able to turn it round.”

You can see how our young Reds fare by attending the Yorkshire derby for FREE at the Oakwell Training Ground, kick-off at 2pm.

Any supporters wishing to attend this game are politely reminded not to park on Grove Street, but to park in the CK Beckett South Stand car park.
