We are living in unprecedented times and many of you are anxious for family, friends and for yourselves. So, I thought I'd pen a few words, particularly if you find life stressful anyway.
There will be a time ahead when the Coronavirus will be part of history. Everything comes to ……pass. I am steering through difficult waters myself at the moment and a previous chairman of this great football club gave me some tips from his experience using the letters FAFL, very appropriate for football: FA; FL
The letters stand for: Face, Accept, Float, Let time pass.
Whatever you are going through Face it. Pretending it’s not there will not make it disappear. Accept the reality of how you feel. Then Float: Acknowledge that you have done everything you can and just relax knowing that life will take its course. Control the controllables. There are lots of relaxation techniques you can use. I find prayerful meditation really helpful. Then - Let time pass knowing that the feelings and the situation you are in are temporary.
It’s really good to talk and we now have opportunities to talk in ways my generation never dreamed possible. Stay in touch with friends and relatives. If you can, try to get some fresh air and exercise.
My prayers and thoughts are with you all at this challenging time and I wish you all well.
Lots of love
