Loan Round-Up

10 March 2020

There were six Barnsley players in action on loan across the country at the weekend, so we took a look at how they got on at their respective temporary homes.

We’ll start in the Sky Bet Championship and make our way down the leagues; up first is MALLIK WILKS who endured a torrid time as Hull City were comprehensively beaten 5-1 by Stoke City.

The forward was replaced at half-time by Keane Lewis-Potter with the Tigers already trailing 3-0. That result leaves Grant McCann’s side without a win in 11 league games and just two points above the relegation zone ahead of Saturday’s crunch clash against Charlton Athletic.

Onto League One, now, and CAMERON MCGEEHAN featured for 69 minutes as Portsmouth’s automatic promotion aspirations were dealt a blow by rivals Peterborough United – who leapfrogged Pompey with a 2-0 win at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Kenny Jackett’s team now sit sixth in the table and are one of five sides on 59 points as the season nears its climax.

In the fourth tier, JORDAN GREEN came on as a 62nd minute substitute to help Newport County to a 1-0 win over lowly Morecambe.

It was less positive news for GEORGE MILLER, who played the full 90 minutes for Scunthorpe United as they lost their Lincolnshire derby with Grimsby Town 2-0.

VICTOR ADEBOYEJO was also on the losing side as Cambridge United were beaten 2-1 by Leyton Orient in east London, with the Reds’ loanee striker featuring for the full game.

Dropping into non-league, now, and CHRIS SANG was replaced midway through the second half during Guiseley AFC’s 3-0 victory against Leamington, a result that moves the Lions up to tenth in the Vanarama National League North.

TOBY SIBBICK and HARRY GAGEN weren’t in action for Heart of Midlothian and Ossett United, respectively.
