Ahead of our Sky Bet Championship clash with Millwall on Saturday, Kilian Ludewig discussed the Reds’ chances as we aim to close the gap to just one point to teams above.
The young full-back has been a revelation since joining on loan from Red Bull Salzburg in January and was particularly impressive as Barnsley left the capital with three points last weekend.
Another victory against Gary Rowett’s side would be just the tonic as we enter the final furlong of what has been a pulsating campaign.
“It was important for us; we are not in a good position and we need the points,” admitted Ludewig. “We started very well and we hope we can go on on Saturday.
“It’s very close and we have to look from game to game. If we do our best, then we will see what happens.
“We are good as a team, at the moment; we have a good feeling and we are ready for the next game.”
Our fixture against the Lions comes just days before we entertain Blackburn Rovers as the season gathers pace in the latter stages.
Momentum could be crucial at both ends of the table, with the majority of our remaining opponents still having plenty to play for before the campaign draws to a close.
“We have a lot of games to play in the next days,” continued Ludewig, “we’re looking forward to doing our best and, hopefully, we can stay in the league.”
Unfortunately, there will be no supporters inside Oakwell to help cheer Barnsley on their way, but we know you will be with us, kicking every ball, from the safety of your own homes.
It is a surreal environment, but one that the players have had to adapt to in these challenging times.
“It is not the same, like before,” said the young German. “But it is football, and we can play our game.
“I love to play with fans and when they push you more to get your best it is nice. Now, it’s not so nice without the fans but we cannot change this; we have to play without the fans.”
