Michael Sollbauer previews Forest game

18 July 2020

Ahead of our Sky Bet Championship clash with Nottingham Forest on Sunday, Michael Sollbauer says Barnsley are confident of securing all three points if they continue to play the way they have in recent games.

The Reds were unfortunate to come away from Elland Road with nothing on Thursday evening after dominating the Yorkshire Derby but, at the moment, they are not reaping the rewards for their impressive displays

“That’s one of our biggest problems right now, in my opinion,” said Sollbauer. “Our performances are better than the results. It makes me feel good for the future and the next two games that we can bring performances like against Leeds or the games before. We are able to do this, but it’s all about the results – especially in our situation.

“On the one side, it’s positive that we can play like this, on the other side, we have to take points and, in the last games, we didn’t pick up the points that we need. We have to work harder, be more focussed and, as a team, we have to bring more concentration when we want to score.”

This weekend’s visitors are all-but assured of a spot in the end of season play-offs; sitting in fifth, five points clear of seventh place Millwall.

It is likely to be another tough ask for Barnsley, but these are the fixtures that Sollbauer and co have relished this campaign and the Austrian feels that his side are more than capable of securing what could prove to be a crucial victory.

“I can say we believe because I have no doubt that we can put in a performance like we did on Thursday against Nottingham Forest,” continued the Reds’ defender. “We all know it’s a big opponent who are in the play-offs, so they will bring a lot of quality to Oakwell.

“But I think we can bring the same quality on the pitch, cause them problems and we will give it everything. We believe in ourselves and our style of play, and we will try to win the game.”
