Virtual Bucket Collection | Parkinson's Disease Society

19 July 2020

Barnsley Football Club will be holding a virtual bucket collection in support of Parkinson’s Disease Society.

The charity were scheduled to collect donations at Oakwell ahead of our fixture against Nottingham Forest but, due to disruption from Coronavirus, we are assisting them via this alternative method.

The Barnsley and District Branch of Parkinson’s UK supports all those in the borough who either have or are affected by the degenerative neurological condition. With no known cure, Parkinson’s Disease affects approximately one in every 500 people and is usually associated with a resting tremor.

However, this is only one of around 30 different physical and mental symptoms which may occur. The result is a gradual loss of all muscular control.

The Barnsley branch provides information, entertainment and peer support through monthly meetings with free transport to those without their own. Members and their carers have access to personal counselling, some respite care in the home, advice on benefits and facilities available to the disabled and most importantly two exercise classes per week. This form of treatment has been shown to slow down the development of the condition.

This support comes at a cost to the charity and they would be extremely grateful for any contribution you could make. If you would like to donate, you can do so via the following methods:

BANK TRANSFER
Account name: Parkinson’s Disease Society, Barnsley and District Account
Sort code: 40-09-12
Account number: 42401967

Alternatively, you can email: info@barnsleyparkinsons.org.uk for details on where to send a cheque.

Thank you for supporting this magnificent cause.
