Primary Enterprise Challenge Update...

15 January 2020

Primary Schools from across Barnsley & the wider community have been working with the team from the Primary Enterprise Challenge to find out who will become the next young entrepreneurs for 2020!

Over 30 schools have already taken part in the football themed competition so far, with many more booked to take part in the New Year.

The challenge, in partnership with Barnsley Football Club, aims to bring something different and exciting to the local community and supporters at Oakwell.

Working in teams of six, the children have been tasked with creating plan for an event which will take place at Oakwell later in the season. All children involved in the project will create a plan on how to best spend their budget, how to effectively market their ideas before finally pitching their work to a panel of judges… something that could be daunting for the most confident of adults, never mind children.

The project is led by Paul Robson, who has supported Barnsley for over 30 years, “While on your school journey, you hopefully get the chance to try out many different opportunities, when you find something that really ignites that spark it opens up a whole new level of confidence. Children learn and develop new skills everyday throughout their school life, its projects like the ‘Primary School Enterprise Challenge’ that helps support, nurture and harness these skills to help them find that spark.

"It’s amazing that Barnsley FC are involved in this year’s project, Children are able to see first-hand that there is much more that happens at the Football Club than the 11 players who walk out onto the pitch at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.”

The team at Primary School Enterprise Challenge pride themselves on delivering a fantastic, exciting, engaging, programme that helps support the incredible schools & staff in order to give the very best really life enterprise education.

Any primary school wanting more information or wanting to take part in the challenge will need to contact Paul Robson via email:, visit the Primary Enterprise Team at their website or via their Twitter page @Primary_Ent.
