Loan Round-Up

27 January 2020

With several members of the Barnsley playing squad currently out on loan, we took a look at how they fared at their temporary homes at the weekend.

We’ll start in Sky Bet League Two, where VICTOR ADEBOYEJO made his Cambridge United debut as Colin Calderwood’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at struggling Morecambe.

Despite playing the full 90 minutes, the 22-year-old couldn’t open his U’s account at the Globe Arena but will be hoping to notch his first goal when Salford City visit the Abbey Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Staying in the fourth tier, JORDAN GREEN was introduced at the hour mark as Newport County’s slim play-off hopes were dealt a blow at Leyton Orient.

The Exiles suffered a 2-1 defeat, with all three goals coming in the last ten minutes, and now sit ten points outside the top seven.

Also in League Two, GEORGE MILLER came off the bench in injury time as Scunthorpe United dented Crewe Alexandra’s automatic promotion hopes with a 2-2 draw at Glanford Park.

The Iron currently sit 15th in the table, one place above Cambridge and ten points clear of the drop zone.

North of the border, now, and it was a debut to remember for TOBY SIBBICK and Heart of Midlothian who stunned title-chasing Rangers at Tynecastle.

Daniel Stendel’s side trailed to Ryan Kent’s goal early in the second half, but the hosts staged a remarkable comeback to seal all three points and ignite their survival hopes.

Back to England and MALLIK WILKS featured for 60 minutes as Hull City were knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup by Chelsea.

The 21-year-old could be back in action on Tuesday evening when the Tigers entertain Huddersfield Town at the KCOM Stadium.

Elsewhere, CAMERON MCGEEHAN was unavailable for selection as Portsmouth faced Barnsley in the FA Cup.
