Cauley Woodrow gives his thoughts on Fulham win

Striker comes back to haunt former club

16 February 2020

After his two-goal haul against former club Fulham, Cauley Woodrow admits it is a result that might have turned a few heads in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Reds put in a scintillating performance in west London to secure a thoroughly deserved 3-0 victory over the high-flying Cottagers, and the Reds’ striker lauded his side for their stunning display.

“I’m not really shocked; we’re confident in every game we go into,” insisted Woodrow. “But I think a lot of people will be looking at that result thinking ‘what’s gone on there?’, but, ultimately, we were fantastic, played really well and, after that performance, it’s no surprise that we won.

“On the pitch, we had that feeling where we didn’t feel like it was going to slip. Everyone to a man was fantastic, from Brad all the way to Chaps and Browny up top; through the team was fantastic – everyone did their jobs and, like I said, it’s no surprise that we won the game.”

Having started the weekend nine points adrift, Barnsley have cut the gap to six points now and will be full of confidence after putting one of the promotion favourites to the sword for the second time this campaign.

With 39 points still to play for, there is reason for supporters to be optimistic if the Reds can take their momentum from this marvellous performance at Fulham.

“We’re never going to give up,” asserted Woodrow, who took his tally to 14 for the season with his brace in the capital.

“We’re not the type of team that can afford to give up; we’re young players who are trying to prove ourselves and trying to do well in our careers. We’ve got 13 games left to pull ourselves out of it and we’re going to have a right go at it, and hopefully we can do that.”
