It was another busy weekend for our players out on loan, so let’s take a look at how they got on at their respective temporary homes.
Once more, we’ll begin in the Sky Bet Championship where Mallik Wilks continued his fine goalscoring streak as Hull City fell to a 2-1 defeat at play-off chasing Preston North End.
The forward gave the Tigers a first half lead at Deepdale, but goals from Paul Gallagher and Alan Browne ensured Grant McCann’s side extended their winless run to nine games in all competitions.
Dropping down to League One and Cameron McGeehan played the full 90 minutes but was unable to prevent Portsmouth from succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at promotion rivals Fleetwood Town.
That result saw the Cod Army climb above Pompey and into the top six, while the Fratton Park outfit have fallen seven points behind table-topping Rotherham United and second place Coventry City.
In the fourth tier, now, and Jordan Green was named as captain as Newport County secured a 2-1 win at home to Bradford City – in turn denting the Bantams’ play-off hopes.
That’s the Exiles’ first league win since the end of January and Michael Flynn’s side now sit 15th in the table.
Elsewhere in League Two, George Miller came on as a late substitute as Scunthorpe United claimed a crucial 1-0 victory against Forest Green Rovers to help ease their relegation fears.
Meanwhile, Victor Adeboyejo was an unused substitute for Cambridge United in their 0-0 draw with Plymouth Argyle.
North of the border, Toby Sibbick wasn’t in action as Heart of Midlothian’s Scottish Premier League clash at St Mirren was postponed.
Into non-league, and Chris Sang came on for the last 20 minutes as Guiseley AFC let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 with Gateshead in the Vanarama National League North.
Finally, Jake Greatorex pulled off a number of fine saves but was unable to stop his Matlock Town side from falling a 2-0 defeat at home to Whitby Town in the BetVictor Northern Premier League.
