CAULEY WOODROW POST-PRESTON

16 December 2020

Following our 2-1 victory over Preston North End, Cauley Woodrow says the Reds need to remain focused if they are to keep up this good run of form.

Three consecutive wins have seen Barnsley climb to ninth in the Sky Bet Championship and just four points outside the play-off places, but our top scorer believes it is important not to get too carried away.

“We’re really happy and really confident at the moment,” he affirmed, speaking to iFollow Barnsley. “We’ve had three wins in a row and some really good results, but we’re staying grounded and level-headed because there’s a quick turnaround to the next game and we need to get ready for that.

“It’s just taking each game as it comes; we’re not going to get over-excited. There’s still a long way to go with lots of tough games but we’re in a good position at the moment. We’re not going to take our foot of the gas; we need to keep pushing because there’s a lot of games. We’re going to keep taking each game as it comes and hopefully keep pushing up the table.”

Woodrow wasn’t amongst the goals against Preston on Tuesday evening, but was on hand to tee up substitute Victor Adeboyejo for the winner ten minutes from time.

That came after skipper Alex Mowatt had cancelled out Sean Maguire’s early opener, and the 26-year-old insists it can only be positive that the goals are being shared around the team.

“It’s important,” confirmed Woodrow. “Alex and Vic have both scored and, on another night it’s me or Chaps – it was Friesy the other day. So it’s important that we’re all chipping in with the goals to help the team get the three points.”
