Following our 2-1 victory at Birmingham City, Cauley Woodrow insisted that his side showed great character to come from behind and claim all three points.
The Reds trailed to Scott Hogan’s opener against the run of play, but our striker levelled things up from the spot after Callum Brittain had been brought down before Callum Styles struck a deserved winner late on.
“I think that sort of epitomises what we’re all about,” began Woodrow. “We were 1-0 down and never gave up, kept fighting and it’s what the manager wanted and what we’re all about. To come out winning 2-1, we’re absolutely delighted.
“This league is such fine margins at times, you can be so close to winning and you can also be so close to losing. But we’ve got that little bit of luck our way and, obviously, worked very hard for our luck and fully deserve it.”
It was the perfect evening for Woodrow, who is celebrating his 26th birthday today and marked the occasion by notching his 40th goal in all competitions for Barnsley.
The prolific hitman is already eyeing up the next milestone and is hopeful of reaching that target before the season draws to a close.
“I’m so happy with a little birthday goal,” he beamed, speaking to iFollow Barnsley. “I’m always counting and 10 more I’ll get to 50, so I’ll try and get there.”
