Our Great Dane spoke to the press ahead of Tuesday night's clash with Preston and referred to the 'confidence' flowing through the Reds squad.
Before moving onto the task in hand, Mads Andersen told the assembled media just how happy he was having helped Barnsley to South Yorkshire derby success in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
“It was lovely!” Mads stated, smiling as ever.
“I am so happy, we loved it. A great day for us.
“I was part of one of the biggest derbies in Danish football so I know what these games mean for supporters and so to have the bragging rights, we couldn’t be more proud.”
That was the Reds' third win in four outings as Valérien Ismaël's side continue to pull away from the bottom third of the Sky Bet Championship table.
Andersen believes confidence is high at the moment, and refers to the struggles of last season making him stronger this time around.
“We are confident, we are playing well and just need to carry on going.
“We are a young, hungry team and all of us as footballers are developing all the time, especially with games coming up so fast.
“I may have had tough times before, but I’m happy I had them. They made me stronger.
“With all the games though, it means recovery is important, and I take great care with that. I’m feeling good for tomorrow night.”
Two bad defeats were registered last season against Tuesday night's visitors, Preston, but Mads isn't thinking about that.
The focus is on the present and picking up another big victory, as he explained.
“I don’t have last season’s games against Preston in my mind. I’m only focused on now and winning tomorrow night.
“We know they’re a good side and it’ll be another challenge.
“But we feel good. We are confident as I said, and hopefully we can get another three points on the board.”
