Ahead of Boxing Day’s Yorkshire derby with Huddersfield Town, manager Valérien Ismaël has said his team’s focus is on putting in a performance that will delight Reds fans.
Barnsley come into this clash on the back of a 2-0 defeat at Swansea City, but had been on a run of decent form prior to the trip to South Wales.
“We want to make the people happy,” began our Head Coach, who admitted that the experience of training and playing over the Christmas period is a new one for him.
However, it is one which he is planning to embrace: “This is a very important game, so we will train in the morning on Christmas Day. We have to work hard, and our first focus is on performance.”
Having already tasted victory in a South Yorkshire derby with the recent win over Sheffield Wednesday, Ismaël knows the importance of the occasion.
He is keen to stress, though, that the Reds are not treating this game any differently: “The most important thing is to get the three points,” he asserted.
