HULL U23S PREVIEW

14 December 2020

Barnsley U23s host Hull City on Tuesday afternoon in their final home game of 2020.

The young Reds are arguably the form team in the Professional Development League having won five consecutive games, while also remaining unbeaten since the opening day of the campaign.

This will be their sternest test, however, since that defeat to Nottingham Forest as the Tigers currently sit second in the division.

It is a fixture that has thrown up a mixed bag of results over the years, with a memorable meeting at the East Riding FA back in January 2019 the one that stands out as the Reds scored two goals in injury time to salvage a share of the spoils in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

City claimed four points in the two encounters last term, earning a 3-0 win at the Oakwell Training Ground the last time these two sides went head-to-head.

Victory for Martin Devaney’s side will see them climb two places, leapfrogging both Sheffield United and Hull in the process, as the battle for those coveted play-off spots looks set to rumble on until the campaign draws to a close at the start of May.

In accordance with government guidelines, this fixture will be played behind closed doors but you can keep up to date with proceedings on our official Academy Twitter account, starting with team news at 12pm.
