DOMINIK FRIESER POST-SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

13 December 2020

Having bagged the goal that secured our first win over Sheffield Wednesday for 11 years, Dominik Frieser says he never doubted the quality of the team after falling behind to an early Josh Windass goal.

Cauley Woodrow soon levelled at Hillsborough before our Austrian forward rounded off a wonderful, flowing team move to seal all three points for the Reds.

“I’m really, really happy,” exclaimed Frieser. “My neighbour said to me when I score against Sheffield Wednesday, I get problems, so I hope my house is in good condition!”

“We went behind early, but there is another 85 minutes to play and you can turn the game. We did this and now we are absolutely happy.”

Speaking about the goal that eventually proved to be the match winner, Frieser praised his teammates for their slick passing – one of the few flashes of brilliance in an otherwise cagey encounter.

The Reds have adopted a more direct approach under Valérien Ismaël but have shown they have the intricacies to carve teams apart, as demonstrated against the Owls.

“It was a really nice pass from Chaps and it was easy to score, but first it was a really nice combination,” lauded Frieser.
