MADS ANDERSEN SETS SIGHTS ON MORE GOALS

24 August 2020

Following our pre-season victory over Crewe Alexandra on Saturday afternoon, Mads Andersen insists Barnsley are still aiming to improve before the new campaign gets underway next month.

Goals in either half from our Danish centre-back and Conor Chaplin secured a 2-0 win over the Railwaymen during the Reds’ first run out since that memorable evening at Griffin Park in July.

“We did alright,” began Andersen. “We won the game, so that’s obviously good, but still we can improve in some places – and we will!

“We had a good training week [at St George’s Park] and two sessions on Friday, so it was great to get the 45.”

After collecting his June Player of the Month award, Mads spoke about his intention to get his name on the scoresheet having come close in the 0-0 draw with Millwall.

The 22-year-old met Callum Styles' in-swinging corner to give Barnsley a fifth minute lead at the Alexandra Stadium, and he is hoping for more of the same heading into the new season.

“It will continue, that’s my goal,” he continued. “After every training session, we practice that and I’m really happy for it.

“We ended [last season] really good, so let’s continue that. If you’re winning, you get confidence and every single player will be confident.”
