Barnsley Football Club is delighted to announce that Callum Styles has signed a new contract!

Following a terrific end to the 19/20 season, the 20-year-old has committed his future to the Reds, agreeing an improved deal that will see him remain at Oakwell until at least 2023, with the Club also retaining the option for a further year.

Signed from Bury in the summer of 2018, the midfielder had to be patient for a consistent run in the first team. But having featured in each of our’ nine league games following the post-lockdown return to play, Callum has shown his versatility and made the left wing-back position his own.

Styles said: “I’m pleased to have signed a new contract and commit my future to the Club. The end of last season was incredible both for me personally and for the team, but we must build on that and look forward to the future.

“We have a really talented young side and it’s brilliant to be a part of. We all look out for each other, there is a real family feel around the Club. I’m enjoying my football here and can't wait to be back playing in front of our fans at Oakwell.”

Barnsley fans will never forget Callum’s first competitive goal in senior football. His left footed strike midway through the first half at Griffin Park in July 2020 proved vital, as the Reds managed to amazingly retain Sky Bet Championship status for another season.

Chief Executive Officer, Dane Murphy, added: “Callum’s efforts towards the end of last season were remarkable. We will all remember his contribution at Griffin Park, but to adapt so comfortably, so quickly to a new position  is a perfect example of his character and the trust that Gerhard has in him.

"We are fully aware of the talent that Callum possesses and we look forward to watching him continue to grow and develop over the coming years.”

Everyone at Oakwell would like to congratulate Callum on his new deal.
