Write For The Reds: Keegan At The World Cup

7 April 2020

Can England do it?!

Finally, the long-anticipated World Cup Final was about to start. Everybody was excited. England had reached the final and were playing against the awesome team, Brazil who had won six previous World Cups!

Keegan Kilner was the Captain of the England squad.  There was a massive roar in the stadium as the game started.

In the third minute Brazil was on a counterattack and Neymar had a shot.  Panic struck the England fans but thankfully, Jordan Pickford made a cracking save.  No-one could believe their eyes!

The England fans were anxious and silent as Brazil took the corner.  The ball flew into the box and Contihio headed it over the bar.  The atmosphere was electrifying.

In the 12th minute Brazil fouled so England were rewarded with a penalty.  Captain Keegan Kilner went to take the shot, feeling nervous as this could be a game changer! He buried it away in style.

The commentator screamed - 1- 0 to England!

This only made Brazil push harder to try level the score.  Towards the end of the first half, Brazil eventually scored, making it level for the start of the second half.

Fantastic football was played by both teams in the second half.  The crowd were sat at the edge of their seats, shouting encouragement to the players who were frantically trying their best to keep possession of the ball and score goals.

Silly mistakes were being made by players who were frustrated and nervous because the game wasn’t going their way and to their advantage.

Harry Kane got injured.  The Brazil player, Neymar tried to get the ball from him by running at him from behind, sliding his legs in causing Harry Kane to fly in the air and landing hard on his right knee.  The referee immediately blew his whistle halting the game and issuing Neymar with a red card.  Brazil were now down to ten men for the rest of the game.

Harry Kane remained on the floor holding his knee in agony.  Medics rushed onto the field as England whilst fans stood in shock waiting to see if one of their main striker was going to be okay.

The medics strapped his knee up and helped him to his feet.  Thankfully he was fine and determined to continue the game.

It was near the end of the game and England had a chance to win.  The corner flew in from Keegan Kilner and Harry Kane got onto the end of it, heading it into the middle of the net making the score 2-1 in England's favour.

The crowd roared and the noise level got louder with excitement.

Two minutes later the final whistle was blown and the stadium erupted.

England had won the World cup!
