Around 40 Barnsley FC supporters will on Saturday attempt to walk close to 20 miles from Oakwell to the John Smith's Stadium to help raise much-needed funding for the Royal British Legion.
Organised by the guys and gals behind the popular Barnsley FC fanzine EyUp & Down, at 6am on Saturday morning a group of Reds supporters will set off on a charity walk to Huddersfield Town ahead of the Yorkshire Derby between the Reds and Terriers.
Taking approximately seven hours, the idea was that of Lyndsey Smith's. Landlady at the Manx Arms, Lyndsey tells us there are roughly 40 people already signed up to take part in the event and is urging more to come along and join them.
"We're opening up the pub nice and early," Lyndsey explained.
"The Manx will be open from 5am for free breakfast for all participants and then we plan to get going at around 6am. We'll be stopping around halfway at Flockton & Lepton Cricket Club before the second half of the journey.
"With issue 7 of our fanzine getting released during Remembrance weekend we came up with this idea to raise as much as possible for what is a cause that's close to our hearts. Everything donated will go to the Royal British Legion as will all profits from issue 7 of the mag.
"The more that can either walk with us or support us, the merrier. And we're hoping that finally at the end of a charity walk to a Reds match that we see a victory to soothe our aching bodies!"
We wish everyone involved a safe trip and we will keep track of their progress across our official club channels whilst giving an update in next Friday's edition of BE RED.
