Barnsley Football Club are pleased to confirm that young goalkeeper Jake Greatorex has signed a new contract with the club.

Committing his future to the Reds until 2020, the 19-year-old Barnsley-born stopper has enjoyed an excellet, progressive season in Martin Devaney’s U23s side, as well as having plenty of exposure to the first team set-up.

Regularly impressing between the sticks in the Professional Development League, Greatorex has also been part of Daniel Stendel’s first team squad, taking his place on the bench on numerous occasions during the 2018/19 campaign and regularly training with the squad.

Having joined the club at eight-years-old, and a big Reds fan, Jake was proud to sign his new deal, telling barnsleyfc.co.uk he’s delighted to continue his development at Oakwell.

He said: “I’m over the moon to get it signed, I love it here, it’s my club and I just want to continue my development, keep progressing. I’m so happy to have it all done and dusted. I know the plan for me over the next 12 months, but I want more, so I have to keep pushing hard and make sure I succeed. I want to thank the club for the faith shown in me and now I need to work hard and see where it can take me.”
