Barnsley Football Club’s medical team and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service received an ‘Exceptional Service Award’ recently from the FMPA.

Craig Sedgwick, the club’s Head Physiotherapist and Alan Laverie, the long-serving YAS Paramedic were both in attendance to pick up the awards on behalf of their teams. Standing alongside the Barnsley pairing was Nick Fenton, Burton Albion’s Physiotherapist.

The award was presented to the trio from life-long Barnsley fan and club volunteer Steve Croft, who collapsed and needed rapid response treatment from Craig, Alan, Nick and many other professionals when the Reds played Burton in September 2018.

Steve has since gone on to make a full recovery and has fully enjoyed attending games at Oakwell again.

Barnsley Football Club would like to thank everyone involved in helping Steve to get back to full health. The reactions from our emergency services and the medical teams at both clubs helped to save his life.
