After a stunning, breakthrough campaign, our 'star man' has put pen to paper on a new deal keeping him at Oakwell until 2022!
We are delighted to announce that Jacob Brown has committed his future for a further three years at Barnsley Football Club.
Signing a new deal that keeps him at Oakwell until the summer of 2022, the Halifax-born forward, who recently turned 21 had a stellar second half to what was his breakout season as a professional.
Bagging himself eight goals from his right-wing position and contributing with a number of assists over the course of the 2018/19 campaign, Brown received recognition from the EFL when named their Young Player of the Month for January.
His last-gasp winning strike away at Walsall proved to be one of the most important moments during the promotion race and he ended the season with three goals in the final four fixtures, including the crucial winning goal against Shrewsbury Town at Oakwell.
Crowned the club's Young Player of the Season at the end-of-season awards evening, Jacob joined an illustrious cast of former players who won that award in their youth, including the likes of current England internationals Kieran Trippier and John Stones.
Speaking exclusively to barnsleyfc.co.uk, 'Browny' described his pleasure in signing on the dotted line and extended his Oakwell stay.
He said: “It’s a great feeling for me, knowing the club are showing faith in me and I am glad it was sorted quickly so I can just concentrate on coming back after the summer break and focus on my football and the Championship. I’m really grateful to the club and they’ve explained how this is a reward to me for hard work.”
