The magic man will join the club permanently this summer!
Barnsley Football Club are delighted to announce that Mike Bähre has agreed personal terms to join the club permanently this summer from Bundesliga side, Hannover 96.
The transfer is due to go through when the window opens in June, pending the completion of the final paperwork and international clearance being received.
The midfielder joined the Reds in the summer of 2018 on a season-long loan, with the club agreeing a fee in the deal to secure Bähre’s services permanently and that option has now been exercised.
An impressive, technically gifted attacking midfielder, Bähre has impressed many who have watched him since his arrival with his ‘magic’ feet getting him out of any situation, allowing him to set attacks off at all times for our forward players.
The 23-year-old has now agreed a contract at Oakwell and will remain under the tutorship of Head Coach Daniel Stendel, with whom he worked for, for many years at previous club Hannover 96.
Speaking to barnsleyfc.co.uk after sealing the move, Bähre said: “I’m so happy, relieved even, that it’s finally happened. When I came here nine months ago I had an expectation, a dream of sorts, of what I wanted from the loan. And that is exactly what has happened now.
“We had an amazing season and I feel I played my part in that. I was OK at the start but I think that in the second half of the campaign I really showed my best form as we claimed second-place.”
