19-year-old full-back extends his stay until 2022.
After what has been a fantastic breakthrough campaign, Barnsley Football Club are pleased to announce that Ben Williams has signed a new contract that will see him remain at Oakwell until the summer of 2022.
The young Welshman arrived at the club in 2017 and following a successful trial period, that June he signed professional terms with the Reds.
Following a terrific season in the Under 23s setup, Ben impressed Head Coach, Daniel Stendel during pre-season last summer and has gone on to firmly establish himself in the first team.
He made his league debut in the 4-0 thrashing of Peterborough United away from home, back in October, earning a number of plaudits for his wholehearted display and hasn't looked back since.
Upon signing his new deal, Williams spoke exclusively to barnsleyfc.co.uk and expressed his delight.
"I'm delighted that it's sorted," he told us.
"It's what I've been working towards over the season, to nail myself a new contract here, so it's good to get it done. It's an exciting time to be at Barnsley, I wanted to remain a Barnsley player so I couldn't be happier really.
"We've a big end to the season coming up now and I hope we can reward the fans with a promotion at the end of it."
Reds Head Coach, Daniel Stendel was happy to see the club tie another of its young stars down to a lengthy contract.
He told us: "This is very good news for the club. In Ben Williams we have a perfect example of what we want at Barnsley. He has worked hard every day in training, showing a good attitude and when called into the team his performances speak for themselves.
"I am very happy for Ben and happy that we have made his stay longer with us."
